I have had experience teaching at both the public school and university level, as well as through private lessons. I primarily teach piano, drum set, and percussion lessons through both in-home and online formats since 2019. Through my experience teaching these past four years, I have had the pleasure of teaching students of all ages (from 5 to 65 years old) and experience levels. Another passion of mine is instruction at the university level, where I have had two years of experience teaching pedagogy courses for undergraduate students along with coaching and instructing music ensembles. Along with my work towards private lessons and university teaching, I also have experience teaching master classes and workshops for public school students.
Here is a list of some common method books I use: Piano: Beginner: Bastien Piano Series Intermediate or Adolescent Beginner: Faber Piano Adventures for the Older Beginner Series Advanced or Adult Beginner: Alfred's All-in-One Piano Course Series Drum Set: Very Young Beginners: Fundamentals of Drumming for Kids by Rich Redmond Beginners: A Fresh Approach to the Drum Set by Mark Wessels General: Basic Drumming by Joel Rothman Along with materials from these method books, I supplement lessons with supplemental materials as well as appropriate pieces or songs for the student to achieve success on@
I strive to create an environment in my lessons where students have free to explore and express their passions and find their voice to become great musicians and people. In my lessons, I prioritize three main goals: technical proficiency, music literacy, and the performance of enjoyable repertoire. These goals are taught through age and experience-appropriate method books, along with supplemental technical materials that are shared with students as well. Finally, musical literacy and technique come together in application of repertoire!
I am a recent student at one of the studios William works at before I moved away from San Antonio. He gave lessons for both me on drums and my little sister, who was just starting out on piano. He was always punctual and respectful of my family’s time and always tried to give me content I could work on throughout the week to get me prepared for new material and ideas. Since taking lessons, I have improved vastly in my skills for high school band and drumset too. Highly recommended!
So far he has been a great instructor. Very patient and knows what he is doing. I recommend anybody wanting to learn drumming to take a chance with him. You wont be disappointed.
