I have been playing flute for 16 years. I love sharing my knowledge to those who want to become a better musician. I received my Associates of the Arts degree in 2017 and continuing to double major in Flute performance and Music Therapy. I have had the opportunity to participate in great orchestras such as Broward Symphony Orchestra and New World School of the Arts Orchestra. I have a passion for sharing my knowledge of music to the world and performing for an audience that appreciate the beautiful tone of the flute.
I have been teaching flute since high school. My high school was also a middle school and I would teach the beginners. Leaving high school I was asked to come back once a week to have group lessons and 1 on 1 lessons with middle and high school students. I was recommended other students from different schools and proud to have them succeed and make it in honor bands and state solo and ensemble. I make sure there is 100% communication between the student and I so I can know how their week has been and what audition or recitals are coming up to make sure we can succeed together.
When I first meet a student, I like evaluate their current skill level and based on that, I will have an idea of which direction to guide them. I will learn their intentions of what their goals are short term and long term so we can work together to prepare for what is to come. We will study fundamentals, solo repitore, scales, basic theory and contemporary technique. I will also work with helping the student to choose an upgrade flute if they feel they are ready. I will make sure each lesson is fun and engaging!
When meeting a new student I like to take the time to know about them. Such as their Hobbies, what kind of music they like, what attracts them to the flute , what kind of future career they are interested in taking and what they hope to achieve from taking lessons. From there I can cater my teaching style to fit their needs. Each student learns at a different pace and I want to set goals each week for us to achieve as a team that are realistic and do my best to motivate my students to work hard to achieve them.
