Overview:
I'm a professional pianist from Spain based in New York City. I have studied classical piano at the Conservatory of Vigo for 11 years and at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, where I graduated with honors. I'm a passionate and dedicated piano teacher who loves to show the beauty of music to all the students. Professionally, I have performed all over the world (Europe, Asia, North, Central and South America) and at some of the most prestigious jazz clubs in NYC (Blue Note, Jazz at Licoln Center, Jazz Gallery, Jazz Standard, etc.)
EXPERIENCE
As a piano instructor, I have taught private lessons for about six years now, and worked with students of all ages and levels. My main goal is that my students have fun in the lessons at the same time that they learn the basics of technique, harmony, reading,etc. I love seeing the development of my students and how they improve their skills. I was part of te faculty at St. Cecilia Music School in NY and currently I'm part of the faculty at Mark Murphy Music in New Jersey. As a clinician, I have taught master classes in Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua or South Korea
METHODS USED
My lessons are very different from student to student. I always ask them about their favorite styles of music and artists, so we can work on music that they can relate to. For my yougest students, the goal is that they have fun while learning music, slowly introducing them to reading and ear training. And for adults we usually work on specific topics that they are interested in. I use online materials such as pdf’s and music links to help with the process. It’s very rewarding seeing my students improve from week to week.
LESSON STYLE
My teaching approach changes from student to student depending on their level and age. I always encourage my students to be creative and my lessons are personalized based on the student's interests. We can work on classical music, jazz, por, rock or on improving a particular field such as reading, ear training or harmony. But the main goal is to have fun! I always try to keep a balance between technique, ear training, repertoire and music theory. Every aspect it’s important in the develpement of a student.
