Overview:
I am a graduate of National Kiev Conservatory of Music with Master Degree in both Violin Performance and Music Education. After graduation from conservatory I worked full time in the State Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine for 10 years and then another 8 years in national Kiev Opera and Ballet Theater. During my tenure in the Opera Symphony orchestra I was invited to participate in multiple world tour to Germany, Italy ,France ,Portugal, Spain, South Korea and South America. While playing and performing with the orchestra I always maid time to teach music at school and to private students.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience started in Music Collage,where teaching of school age students was part of curriculum .After graduation from Kiev Conservatory I taught individual violin and viola lessons at Kiev Music School #10 for Gifted Children. Shortly after immigrating to the United States I joined the teaching staff of the Notre Dame School of Music,where I served as a violin teacher for 5 years. When in 2005 the school was closed,I decided to continue teaching and created my private studio, where I have been teaching students of all ages and levels to play violin,viola and piano.
METHODS USED
I try to introduce my students to different styles and genres of music. Their repertoire ranges from dances and songs to variations, concertos and sonatas. In order to be able to play such an array of genres, one requires what I like to call a "laboratory of skills". Scales, exercises and studies,played at the beginning of every lesson,are a way to develop the said "laboratory".While working with little kids I try to combine traditional and Suzuki methods.In order to insure that my lessons are both educational and entertaining I make my little students move,dance,clap and sing.
LESSON STYLE
My goal as a teacher not to make a professional musician from every student, but to introduce them to a great wold of music and make them fall in love with it. I love Mrs. Suzuki's quote:"Every child can".Yes, every student can learn to play an instrument at his or her own pace. But to do so they need to understand the importance of every day practice.I always encourage my students to participate in recitals and concerts, as this is a real opportunity to witness their progress. After the recital I am always happy to acknowledge students achievements as well as offer my suggestions for further improvements.
