Bachelor Degree: Institute of Musical Studies (IUDEM – Venezuela)
I am a motivated instructor who enjoys teaching students of all ages. In 2007, I graduated from the Institute of Musical Studies (Venezuela), with a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance. I have developed my career as a soloist and also and as a member of various chamber music ensembles. As a flutist of the internationally prestigious Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra for twelve years, conducted by Maestro Gustavo Dudamel, I have performed at the most notable concert halls of classical music in North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia. I am a founder member of “Nexus Duo” together with the Latin Grammy winner guitar and Venezuelan cuatro player, Hector Molina.
I have been teaching flute lessons in music conservatories to students from beginner to advanced level for more than 15 years. I have also taught flute master classes and woodwind sectionals to youth ensembles and youth orchestras. My lessons allow students to develop the instrument technique and prepare repertory for recitals, marching band auditions, and college auditions. I have experience teaching music to K-2 children in private schools, and music summer camps. As a result, I have developed effective teaching techniques, which allows me to foster a fun and engaging learning environment.
For beginner children, I like to use the Suzuki Method. For adults and intermediate to advanced children, I use a combination of books from different authors e.g. Taffanel & Gaubert Flute Method, Marcel Moyse books, for technique development and also many pieces from the classical repertory. I also let the students choose pieces of any style that they’re interested in playing and they can handle. I have developed effective teaching techniques, which allows me to foster a fun and engaging learning environment.
My teaching style allows students to make music from the beginning, helping to motivate them with attractive songs, which can be used as technique building exercises. I encourage my students to practice and set goals at each lesson. They would be able to work at their own pace. Playing duets with the teacher is also a fun activity, and listening to good players recordings will inspire them. I also encourage my students to prepare themselves for playing recitals, enter competitions and play with bands or music ensembles.
