I am a instructor who is willing to work with students who are interested discovering world of music through their own unique voice. I recently graduated from Jacobs School of Music with Masters of Music and Performance Diploma. As a dedicated orchestral musician, I have attended festivals around United states including Tanglewood Music Center, Music Academy of West, and many others. As a active orchestra musician, I am currently holding member position at the Civic orchestra of Chicago and had position playing in the professional orchestra.
I have a experience doing the voluntary teaching at elementary, middle school around the Rochester area. As a teacher, it was very inspiring to see lots of students who wish to learn instrument after school simply because they love playing small songs with their peers. Through the experience of teaching group of students, the primary fundamental I kept was that we are doing music was that we need to enjoy during the outcome (such as playing in group together). I am always open to students in various ages and levels because I believe anyone can enjoy the progress of making music.
For beginning students, I primarily use scale cycle, and some of Suzuki Music to start with the ear opening to how the sound or melody work can be done and see how it can be applied from the scale work we do on the technical practice. I try to find what student want from the overall lesson time because that set up the different goal for different student. When the student enters in the intermediate level, I try to find a little longer literature for student to learn in long term goal, and expanding students music literature.
One of my primary goal when I am working with student is to set a goal point, and what we want to achieve while working together. Such as, we would like to pick a simple goal as learning a favorite piece within time frame to applying to a competition or festival student wishes to aim their goal. As a instructor, it is very rewarding to see the student students are working hard for their goals and making steps in order to achieve the goal. As a teacher, I would always encourage my students to not lose their inspiration and motivation to work for what they want to achieve by playing music.
