I'm a professional and motivated instructor who just graduated from UT Austin and would love to share music with whoever wants to learn. It has been 16 years for playing cello and orchestra whether in school and outside of school, and also for teaching experience. I have been working with several Maestros, including Bion Tsang, Rapheal Bell, Peter Seidenberg, Peter Opie, and Jonathan Spitz, and I had an opportunity to perform in the Taiwan National Concert Hall with Haik Kazazyan, who was the third-place of International Tchaikovsky Violin Competition.
I have taught several students while I was studying music. I won the third place of the Taipei City Competition of Music among many outstanding competitors in 2015. On the other hand, I strived for the chance of participating in many performances. In 2014, I performed Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 with the local orchestra in Hualien. In 2017, I played Prokofiev’s Sinfonia-Concertante, Op.125 at my recital at Soochow University, which was praised by my teachers and the audiences. Recently, I have finished my second personal recital at Butler School of music in UT Austin.
For beginning learners, I attach great importance to the sitting position and ear training, so paying attention to intonation and awareness of sitting position when playing the cello is my primary consideration. For intermediate students who study for more than one year, I will pay more attention to left-handed skills and students' mastery of the bowing. For advanced players, I will focus more on musical interpretation and comprehensive techniques. All the left and right-hand skills will be put into the interpretation of music, this is the last step for students who playing cello.
I encourage students to set goals for each week and complete them. If your children want to learn the cello, I will use encouragement and play as a way to introduce music. Being a friend with them, introducing and getting to know the cello in this way is an important criterion for me. I hope everyone can learn the piano happily and enjoy the fun of playing the cello. But if there are students who want to learn piano with me in a more professional way, I will also be very happy for you to come.
