Hello! My wonderful students! My name is Ying I'm a mezzo- soprano. I started singing about 13 years ago, I was trained as a Soprano, I have performed Contessa in le nozze di figaro, Dona Anna in Don Giovanni. Now I'm discovered as a dramatic Mezzo-Soprano and finished my Masters in Voice Performance. I have studied with most famous voice teachers both in China and U.S.A. and learned the most healthy and easy way of singing. I have a very good understanding about music. I'm not only can teach classic singing but also can teach other genres, as long as you want to sing and you love to sing, I will help you to build the most healthy way of singing and teach you the best singing technique.
My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 9 years ago and have been consistently teaching student in my studio for the last 2 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key point I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for singing. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy singing and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. I'm always looking to bring on new students of all ages!
For beginning students, I will start with standing position and breath training along with simple vocalize and songs that students like to sing. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals I will begin to introduce technical repertoire. For advanced students, I will focus on solve the students problems first, (such as jaw tension, tongue tension, body tension and breath disconnection exc.) then introduce new repertoire will help the students and develop the students to the higher and higher level. For all students, I try to find out all my students interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. I'm always looking forward to work with my students.
