I am a professional concert pianist and a piano teacher from New York City.
15 years of teaching experience, children and adults, all levels. I am very patient and I have excellent references. I am very good with beginners. 15 years of performances and competitions.
Teaching Philosophy:Without discipline and technique, there is no possibility for art. At the same time, technique alone expresses very little. Rather, it serves as a tool that frees us to make music. I address the importance of both technique and artistry to my students of all levels. I like to encourage bold interpretive experimentation, and show students how I myself would experiment with phrasing, dynamics and rubato. I like to enliven my students' imagination, as well as tend to the important physical mechanics of playing the piano (your arms should not hurt).
Additionally, I help my students cultivate the ability to listen to their own playing. Students who have a strong aural image of what they want from the piano will progress quickly in many ways. They need to open up their ears to nuance, color, articulations, voicing, etc. I would love to help you, or your kids to become a better pianist, and a polished artist.
