I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and exploring music together. I graduated from Soai University in Osaka in 2016. I had been developing my career as a freelance musician since I graduated and gained various professional musical experience including playing with Osaka Philharmonic and Okayama Philharmonic. In 2021, I came to U.S., and I just earned my Master's Degree in Orchestra Studies at the Chicago College of Performing Arts, where I studied the clarinet under Prof. John Bruce Yeh and Teresa Reilly. I am currently an associate member of Chicago Civic Orchestra and New World Symphony. I recently recorded my first album from Aeolian Classics, which will be heard in 2024.
My teaching experience dated back to my college days, as I began teaching wind ensembles. I have been invited to help coach over 20 bands in the Osaka area, many times helping them reach gold medals at competitions such as the All-Japan Band Competition. I have of course also participated as a band and wind ensemble member many times, including the Osaka Shion Wind Ensemble and the Japan Wind Ensemble. In addition to band coaching, I have been teaching students in my private studio. My students are not only encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, but also to find a joy in the music and put music into the part of their life. I am very welcome to have new students of all ages and any levels
As a first step, I will focus on students to get good fundamental skills as much as we can. It is alway important for all of students to bring next level. So, I will use some etudes and scale books published in the lesson, and teach some my original practice methods. I usually suggest the repertoire students should learn but I am always flexible to teach what students want to learn so that students do not feel being forced to learn music. And also it is very important not only focusing on instruments but also learning how to read music precisely, so I will help them to read music carefully.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. And also I will encourage them to go to a lot of concerts we can hear in Chicago area. Music culture in Chicago is very developed and there are a lot of wonderful live concerts. So I want students to get a good inspiration from it and have a clear imagination of real music.
