I had learnt saxophone for 19 years. Now, I am a DMA student of UNCG. I do have a great experience in how to teach students in different level and how to perform on the stage. I got many prizes in America and the other countries. Also, many of my former students gained many prizes in their life as well. I love performing and teaching, I am excited to help my students perform well and get a great future. I would like to play some fun pieces with my students. It will be a lot of fun. And, I am free to ask anytime.
I was graduated from China conservatory of music in 2015. I started to teach in 2011. After graduation, I was accepted by university of Idaho with fully scholarships and TA position. I started to teach private lesson, ensemble lesson, theory lesson and woodwind technique lesson. I usually make some students play together, I will give them some duet or quartet piece to let them start to hear each other, try to cooperate with the others. They got a lot of fun during lessons. I have many teaching experiences in different age and people from different countries.

Then, I will teach them how to breath and start to play the mouthpiece. Second, put the mouthpiece to the neck. And start to play long notes in few minutes. Next, play the whole things and learn the fingerings. Try to play some scale in one breath. And then I will give them a very famous and simple songs to be an assignment. It will increase their interesting and easy to reach the goal. For the professional student, I will focus on the technique and musical stuff. Like, the air speed and air direction. How to make better sound? How can we play very soft and super loud? Etc
I will teach differently between beginner and professional students. For the kids, I will play and teach at the same time. Let them have interesting is the most important. I don’t want to be very serious, everyone who has a passion, they may be a artist. I don’t want to miss a artist. For the professional student or college student, I will have more requirement, because they are in a better understanding age, they can do a lot with me. I will encourage them play more and think more. It is great to see them to be better.
Currently, I am a teaching assistant of UNCG.
