Overview:
My name is Yuh-Boh and I have been playing the saxophone for 16 years and seriously began learning the saxophone when I began in college. I graduated from Sacramento State University with a Bachelors in Music Performance and recently graduated from New England Conservatory with a Masters in Saxophone Performance. My dream is to be able to play music and maybe even travel across the country and perhaps....the WORLD! I have years working with prominent ensembles and even community bands. As of now, I work with the 191st Wild West Band in the Army Reserves.
EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching regularly since I have graduated from Sacramento State University and although I'am currently studying in New England Conservatory, I can fit some students in my schedule. In some cases, I would give tips and advises to friends and help improve their skills while honing my ear training. That being said, after years of training, I am confident in my ability to not only to bring your strengths to your fullest potential, but to also take attention to your weaknesses as well! I hope to fulfill all your needs!
METHODS USED
First and foremost, I believe in HONESTY and RESPONSIBILITY to my students. I remember when I took private lessons many years ago with various teachers and thought that I was pretty good at playing saxophone. It was not until I studied under Dr. Keith Bohm that I realized how horrible those previous teachers were. They were negligent and was not able to provide the essential fundamentals for me as a young musician and thus, I developed many, many, MANY bad habits. Although you may not become a professional musician, it is my strong belief to supply you with as much accurate information about music and the saxophone as I can starting from the fundamentals. This is essential to my methods as a teacher and applies to students of all ages.
LESSON STYLE
Again, as a teacher my goal is to be honest and responsible to everyone's improvement in music. Nothing makes me happier than to see people I teach reach greater heights and even achieving skills that surpasses mine. As a person, I will support you through your obstacles at my best and try to answer all your questions with clearity and honesty. However, it is essential to note that regardless of how much I can teach you and point out your weaknesses, it is up to YOU to decide how far you will go. To sum it up, how much you improve depends on how much you practice. It is also important to note that I am not just a music teacher, but a friend as well. If there are problems outside music that is affecting you, please know that I am there to help as well.

We have been so impressed with his knowledge, passion and instruction. He is amazing at teaching all the different nuances of learning how to play the sax. He encourages my son in just the right way to push him to a higher level. He really is the best!!!

Usually I don't write reviews. I am compelled to write for Feng. I've experience finding/working with many music teachers over the years for different instruments (piano, flute, sax) for kids. I think Feng is the best, he is so passion about music, he encourages and encourages the kids. He teaches thoroughly - you can tell he knows lot about saxaphone. I would definitely recommend Feng!!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
