I'm a fun and unique instructor who is both classicaly trained and self taught. I studied music in school, but taught myself how to play guitar. I graduated from Baruch College and the Institute of Audio Research, and I have been a professional musician for over 10 years and an Audio Engineer for the past five. I truly learned how to be a musician by performing around New York City as a solo artist and with my band. I learned most of my stagecraft at the legendary CBGB's.
I have been teaching professionally since 2010. I have worked for various music schools and have given lessons privately. I have experience in band coaching and teaching song writing and recording. I teach lessons out of my own recording studio, and I am comfortable working with students of all ages and skill levels. I consider myself to be great with beginners because I focus a lot on technique and how to make a clear clean sound on the instrument which is usually the first barrier a new student encounters. For my advanced students we cover concepts like music theory and ear training.
My teaching style is song based. I generally try inspire my students by having them learn material that they want to play. For beginners I teach the notes and chords and how they apply to the songs they want to learn. For advanced students we examine what techniques and concepts are used in the songs.
My teaching style is based on having fun and enjoying music. I work with my students to set goals and reach them. I use my song based approach to encourage my students because one of the main reasons one picks up an instrument is to be able to recreate the music they love most. By doing this I can cater to my students' needs and desires as musicians.
