I am a passionate and motivated teacher, I'm 29 years old and a father of 3 beautiful children! I enjoy spending time with my family, singing (of course!) Playing guitar, and piano. I also enjoy writing songs and short stories in my spare time. My goal with being a teacher of Voice is to mold and inspire future Singers and to create the stars of tommorow. I have 15+ years of experience singing all while touring, teaching, earning my degree and recording. When it comes to teaching I train SINGERS as in people who want to become professionally working singers. If this sounds like you or your child I can't wait to hear from you!
I started teaching to supplement income between tours. However, I soon fell in love with teaching! My experience is part real world and part academic, I was a professionally touring Recording artist for 15 years. In that time I learned the in's and outs of the entertainment business and a passion for molding young and upcoming Singers into professional's. When my students first begin a lesson we start by assessing their ability with an intro song of their choosing, from there we Build using open throat technique and slowly inching into more advanced techniques such as Distortion and Vocal fry. We will also focus on aspects of singing involving stage Development Artist Development. I encourage my students to enter competitions and i also host recitals from time to time.
We first begin with an introduction song chosen by the student, this helps me understand their current ability and what the student needs to work on. From there we move on to learning music theory, Open throat technique as well as specific techniques involving the students preferred Genre. I do however Encourage students to step outside of their comfort zone from time to time to learn new things from other Genres that may help them stand out over the rest. I am also able to teach Stage craft for singers and songwriting skills. (I generally work with students on stage work during vocal training)
I like to think I have a nurturing yet no-nonsense approach to teaching. Most of my students desire to be professional singers, and I intend to help them Reach that goal. It is true that acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a student's desire to progress, however I also believe that pointing out where do students need to improve most is also important to the development of a singer and to the development of a performer. If a student makes a mistake I will correct it and point out what they did wrong and how they can avoid it in the future. But I will also give insight on how this mistake could affect one's career. As aforementioned above I have real world experience of being a touring artist, if this is their goal they need to understand how tough the competition is and how they can separate themselves from The Herd
