Hi there! I am a guitar enthusiast with a deep love for blues-based music! I am a completely self taught musician, learning mostly by ear and YouTube video lessons. I graduated from Michigan State University in the Fall of 2019 with a degree in Food Industry Management, but decided to pursue a career in music instead. This is my first year pursuing music professional and I've played 84 shows between two bands, Sadie Bass and Great Scott. With Sadie Bass, I've performed with national country artists, such as Brantley Gilbert and Billy Ray Cyrus, among a few others. We've won several contests, including the 2019 B93 Battle To The Birthday Bash and a nationwide contest to perform on Brantley Gilbert's cruise ship.
I only recently started offering private lessons this past year. I love sharing knowledge and information with others, especially when it comes to guitar. From a teaching standpoint, my goal is not only to teach students how to improve as a guitar player, but to also show them what it takes to become a professional from a moral standpoint. I want to show students that one doesn't necessarily need a degree in music to become a successful musician. As a teacher, I strive to exemplify a can-do attitude, drive, and passion.
For children that are new to the instrument, my focus is to make guitar exciting! We will take a look as some basic chords and work on stripped down versions of Disney Songs (or other kid-friendly pop songs). At this stage, my goal is to get the student excited about learning and practicing guitar. For beginning adults, we will take a look at beginner chords, picking techniques, and basic songs to work on, as well as develop a practice routine. Intermediate students will receive a more specialized approach, developing a practice route around their goals and focusing on relevant concepts.
My teaching style is completely adaptable for each individual student. Not everyone is interested in becoming a guitar virtuoso, and that's okay! Are you new to guitar/music? What are your goals? Would you like to play music professionally? How much time are your willing to devote to your goals each week? All of these things are considered in my teaching method and are tailored to fit your unique desires and personality. The only thing more rewarding for me than personal success is sharing success with other individuals.
