Bachelor Degree: Crane School of Music
Hi! I'm Zoe, a conservatory-trained classical and musical theater vocalist. I have over 10 years of experience teaching private vocal and piano lessons, working with students of all levels in classical, musical theater, and jazz styles. My teaching approach combines vocal exercises to assess progress, technique-focused repertoire, and student-selected music to keep lessons engaging and fun. I emphasize building a strong foundation in technique while fostering confidence and healthy vocal habits. Beyond lessons, I encourage students to participate in recitals, competitions, and songwriting to celebrate their growth. Let’s work together to make music enjoyable and rewarding!
I have professional experience in classical, musical theater, and jazz styles and am comfortable teaching at every level. With regard to teaching, I have experience in one-on-one and group settings in my home and at Bach to Rock music school. I’ve been teaching private vocal lessons for over 10 years, both vocal training and piano.I believe students should have fun while learning and participate in music outside of the classroom, so I encourage them to participate in recitals, competitions, and even songwriting to stay motivated and celebrate their progress.
I always start my lessons off with vocal exercises in order to assess the status of the voice and what we need to work on, and also what progress has been made since our last session, if any. In order to keep my students interested, I like to work on repertoire that they’re interested in and that they select. I definitely suggest pieces that I think might help practice areas of their vocal technique that they would like to improve, but I also want to make sure it’s music that they like and want to sing.
During our lessons, you will learn the mental, physical, and theoretical aspects of singing. Starting by building a strong foundation of physical technique, we will make the most out of your natural instrument by finding the ways you learn best. You will come out of our lessons feeling confident that you are able to control your voice and be able to use it healthfully. Most importantly, this should be fun! You will always choose what you sing, and if you need a little help, I will be happy to work together to find pieces that'll be right for you. I'm excited to get started!
