My teaching experience dates back to my college days when I began teaching a small clarinet choir at a private school close to my campus. I graduated from college and began working as a middle school band director. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching marching band eight years ago. After graduating from Tarleton State University in 2014, I began teaching at the junior high and high school levels. In between teaching classes I would help students after school with working on their music for class as well as encouraging students to push themselves with more challenging literature. During the concert season I would meet with sections or individuals for lessons for their solo or ensemble auditions. Read More

For beginner students use the Hal Leonard Essential Elements 2000 method books. These books offer a very detailed and easy fundamental based method to start beginners off on the right foot. These books also utilize simple and recognizable melodies to aid in the student’s learning. For adults, I like to use the Rubank Methods, starting with the Rubank Elementary Method. These books provide a very strong focus in fundamentals for those who are slightly more advanced. Read More

For the very beginners, I like to use Essential Elements 2000 or Standard of Excellence Book. Depending on the student's development the next step will be H.L Clarke's Technical Studies. After this, I would find easy music that the student can identify with and be interested in, such as Disney books, Harry Potter, etc. For the more advanced high school students, they will also use Clarke's Technical Studies, Arban's Complete Conservatory Method for trumpet, and Rubank Method Books which come in Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced levels. I have had the opportunity to travel all over the country making music. Read More
