My teaching experience dates back to 2002 when I became Graduate Assistant to Demondrea Thurman, at Alabama State University.While working on my MM at The University of Alabama, whereI studied with J. Michael Dunn, I taught undergraduate tuba and euphonium majors.After graduating in 2005,I served as the professor of Lower Brass at Florida AM University, where I was also Director of Lower Brass to the Marching 100, I taught a studio of 30+ students per semester.From 2008-2010 I served as adjunct Professor of Lower Brass at Alabama State University. With many years experience and training, I have worked with students of all ages and abilities. My students are successful because lessons are challenging but fun, positive and enjoyable. I believe in positive reinforcement, setting goals with the student, regular feedback and encouragement, and helping the student reach their potential. I have performed all over the world in a variety of musical settings from salsa to jazz to classical. I began teaching music at a daycare when I was twenty years old (I am currently 24). I taught private piano and guitar lessons on a weekly basis. My youngest student at the time was a year and a half and my oldest student was twelve years old. I learned very quickly that one of the most important things is to inspire a love of music in each student because if you do not enjoy what you are doing you will never want to practice and if you don't want to practice there can be no improvement since forced practice is nothing more than another chore.
