I'm a professional trombonist, specializing in the fields of orchestral classical music, and also avant garde contemporary music, and improvised creative music. I was the first trombonist to graduate with a BM from the Colburn School, an intensely rigorous, professional level orchestra, and conservatory, I had the opportunity to work with the Ensemble Modern one of the premier European new music ensembles, and Frank Zappa's self proclaimed "last band".  In 2014, I graduated from the California Institute of the Arts,  where I studied composition, experimental music, and improvisation, and focused primarily on developing my own style of live electronics and improvisation via the trombone. I began teaching music at a daycare when I was twenty years old (I am currently 24). I taught private piano and guitar lessons on a weekly basis. For beginning students I use instrument appropriate lesson books that teach the fundamentals of music, the instrument and progressively allows the student to feel comfortable with the sound and feel of the instrument. As they progress I begin introducing solo pieces and instruction to strengthen techniques, embouchure, sight reading, and theory abilities. Due to my experience working with multiple grade/age levels, I have learned to carefully fine tune my teaching strategy for each individual student that I work with. At the beginner level I typically work from method books to ensure a solid development of performance fundamentals.
