I started studying music at a very early age. When I was four years old, I started taking organ lessons, followed by piano when I was 7 years old. During elementary school, I started playing the clarinet. In middle school, I started playing the oboe. During high school, I learned the english horn and alto saxophone. My teaching experience dates back to high school. I was a student leader in the marching band, serving as the woodwind captain for the marching band and the senior student conductor for the concert bands. With these positions, I was able to tutor peers and work on expanding my knowledge of teaching music. As a musician myself, I enjoy the cooperative element of music so I readily have an instrument around that I can play along with the student to help further innate musicianship for all skill levels of instrumentalists. For beginners I enjoy using Standards of Excellence from Kjos publishing or Sound Innovations from Alfred publishing and custom tailor exercises to fit the strengths and challenges of every student I teach.
