Dan received his Bachelors Degree in Trombone Performance from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He credits his time at Baylor University for teaching him the value of a supportive and nurturing environment balanced with hard work and dedication. Dan has had the unique opportunity to be able to study with a long list of great trombonists across the nation. His primary teachers include Brent Phillips (Marine Band/Baylor University), John Rojak (American Brass Quintet/Juilliard), and Matthew Guilford (National Symphony Orchestra). Read More

I focus on the fundamentals.  When a student has a firm grasp on the fundamentals they can survive in any arena being a musician may place you in. Additionally I like to help my students discover their unique voice and how that uniqueness helps to add to a bands overall performance. Additionally, To me band is much more then just an extracurricular activity. My teaching is student-centered. Teacher demonstration leads the way for any student on any instrument. Students are encouraged to set long-term goals and short-term goals. Students are encouraged to be stakeholders in their own development and their own future. Students are encouraged to listen to as many other artists as possible.
