I start all beginning brass players in the Tradition of Excellence method (Kjos Music) as well as individually designed drills and warm-ups. Intermediate students progress to the Rubank Intermediate Method as well as the beginning of the Arbans Method and grade 1 -3 solos. Depending on the individual, advanced students move on to grades 4-6 solos and method books that are specific to their instrument. For this reason, my teaching focuses on establishing and correcting these bad habits so that the student can focus on what they want to do, play music.
