I try to be sensitive to the needs of the student not just his/her musical needs but his/her academic needs as my ability to continue working with the student depends upon his/her academic success. Since 1996, I have taught students in private settings in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Lubbock. I also spent some time teaching in the small public school system in West Texas. My starting point for my students is typically having them practice posture, hand position and proper mouthpiece placement. After this has been satisfied, I have the students blow using a breathing exercise. From this, I have the students play the first three notes out of their Habits of Good Musician Book 1. I began officially teaching private lessons five years ago when I started college. I have taught in the San Antonio, Austin, Cedar Park and Pflugerville area, students ranging from middle school to college level.
