Hello! I'm a recent graduate from Lawrence University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Instrumental/Choral/General Education finishing up my student teaching. My primary instrument's are bassoon and voice with guitar, ukulele and piano as secondaries but I have a deep love for learning new instruments and have gained intermediate proficiency in all western orchestral/concert band winds, strings and percussion with an emphasis in woodwinds, low brass and marching/concert percussion. For brass players, I use Arbans, Bordogni, and Blazhevich etude books coupled with Rubank and other duets to form a solid foundation. From there I try and let the students' own interest in music guide other parts of practice. With strings I like to start out with the Hal Leonard beginning books to get the basics of reading music. From there I couple learning popular tunes the student picks with developing method books to maintain a strong fundamental of playing. Read More

Student teaching had me in the elementary classroom teaching K-5 students the fundamentals of music as well as teach high school singers the importance of harmony and support in their singing; my first teaching job had me help middle school singers find their voices as they were actively changing and build a safe space for singers and musicians of all types.
