I'm a fun, enthusiastic music teacher who enjoys teaching students of all ages.  With a degree in music performance from the Cincinnati Conservatory and in acting from the LA City College Theatre Academy, I bring a special skill set and experience level to my lessons. I've been teaching private lessons in the greater Los Angeles area for almost 20 years. My approach to teaching is, while quite lax, all about efficiency. Whatever the issue may be, I will not communicate outright disappointment if the student is clearly struggling. Such would be highly counterproductive. Beyond the sometimes opaque nature of helping improve one's physical dexterity on the instrument, the ultimate emphasis I wish to impress in this art form is enjoyment. I started my teaching career as a private instructor as soon as I entered the Conservatory. Not even two years later, I was appointed to the faculty of the UC Berkeley Young Musician's Program. The Young Musician's Program is designed to offer music and academic private lessons to gifted an underprivileged children. For seven years, I have taught private trombone lessons in cities as far away as Los Angeles and as close to home as Boston itself. Although my primary instrument is trombone, I am able to teach lessons in composition and arranging, and can work with beginning piano students. I always vary my teaching methods to accomodate each of my student's needs.  However, my lesson format stays fundamentally the same.  I always begin with some mouthpiece buzzing, which incorporates ear-training, then move to rhythm exercises, scales and technical studies, method book, and any other music the student is working on at the time.
