I enjoy sharing my love of music with others. Trumpet is my main instrument. From playing before small groups at school, performing as National Anthem Soloist for the NFL, to performing for governors and the president of the United States, I have been blessed to have been part of many remarkable musical experiences. Let me help you become the musician you want to be. Relax, think, and enjoy playing your instrument. Read More

Traditional but relaxed, with the goal of helping the students to reach their maximum level by building on success. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it’s important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I began teaching clarinet lessons as a college student in 1990, and got my first job as a band director in 1993. I have not taught lessons in a home studio setting (only at school), but would be able to teach students in my home if desired, or would travel to students' homes or teach online if preferred. I have taught piano, drums, and all band instruments since 1993. Some of my biggest strengths as a private lesson teacher are patience, differentiating instruction to fit the needs of each learner, and finding material that will be both fun and beneficial for students to practice. For my advanced students (18+), depending on how advanced they are, I start them in the "First Book of _______ Solos" series. This series covers singing in English as well as several other languages and provides a good foundation for singing. Anything else I do with the student is on an individual basis. For younger brass students (10-14) I would teach out of the Standard of Excellence Books unless they are more advanced where I would start them in the Arbans Book, Robert Getchell Book, and/or Schlossberg Book. I believe it is important that each student set goals for his or her progression as a musician in each lesson, and I help students set goals when I can. I have high expectations for my students, and expect them to work hard. I also understand that not every student can put the same amount of time into lessons, so I do not set a weekly practice amount. However, I do still expect them to consistenly practice when they can.
