Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. A performer of both jazz and classical, Blake has performed in many national and international festivals and contests including The Grammys, The Music For All Festival, The Sienna Jazz Festival, The Monterey Jazz Festival, The Montreal Jazz Festival, The Jazz Educators Network Conference, and the Iowa City Jazz Festival. I give students a certain level of information, and then lead them down the implications of what I have told them. While memorization is important, rote memorization without process or thought is not the most effective way to encode information or muscle memory into long term memory.
