Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

Im a motivated teacher who likes working with students wanting to develop. I graduated from FDU Madison Nj with a B.A. degree in 1998. Im primarily a self taught musician who has worked my way into being a professional. I have performed numerous times in Europe and for years as a sideman in jazz big bands, combos and rb groups in the NYC metropolitan area. Prior to enrolling in a music school, I developed an unexpected interest in teaching. Assisting struggling peers brought self awareness and inevitably made me, as well as the overall group better, allowing me to understand a connection between music performance and education. I started playing music in 5th grade, when I was 11 years old. While I had spent my first year playing trumpet, I had switched to euphonium before I started my 6th grade year and have been playing that and trombone ever since. I spent my high school and community college years playing jazz music on both instruments, and began playing classical euphonium both in high school and when the ensembles became available upon start at TCNJ. I use a variety of published methods depending on the age of the student and their current level. I prefer Rubank's method books as they are a little more challenging. They include simplified melodies and examples from classical literature. I may not begin with Rubank for the very young but my goal is to lead them up to that publisher within the first year. I always bring one of my instruments so I can play along and teach by example. it is import the young student learns good posture and breathing technique early on as it will contribute to a more successful beginning. Throughout my college career, I have learned to teach students rather than babysit students in order to have them achieve their very best. Teaching is the organizing or guiding of a process in which students learn. Teaching is there so students can learn. Babysitting is simply watching the students without them necessarily learning anything. I strongly believemusic teachers should possess a love of music and an enjoyment of working with people.
