I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 2014, I graduated from Tarleton State University with a Bachelors of Music Education. Performing all over the country has been one of the greater music experiences of my life as a musician. Although my primary instrument is on euphonium, I am also very skilled on trombone, tuba, trumpet and saxophone. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. I typically use Steve Hedrick's Band Fundamentals book with beginners. If a student is currently enrolled in a band program, I am comfortable using whichever method book their teachers has selected. I gradually begin to introduce solo repertoire and creative activities such as composition and improvisation. With more advanced students, I will typically use a "cornerstone" book from the literature pertaining to their instrument. I believe that each student has their own specific musical journey, and it is important to set realistic, attainable goals that help move that journey along at the student's specific pace.
