I’m a creative musician based in Memphis, Tennessee. I am a classical/jazz trombonist by training with additional experience as a composer, singer-songwriter and electronic musician. I live in the Cooper-Young area of Midtown, Memphis and teach from my home. I have equipment such as music stands, supplemental materials, and a few extra instruments that I can provide during a lesson. I have 3 rescue pets, including Pierre the cat, Norman the hedgehog, and Jolene the chicken who all love music as well. Read More

My teaching style is based around my love for storytelling and pictures. I will often ask students how a melodic line or etude makes them feel when they hear it or play it. I develop on this and start to guide the student to see the over arching theme of an etude and to develop a wide pallet of many colors to create a picture with their sound. These links to our other senses help us to create a deeper sense to the music and grow overall as musicians. Read More

It's important to have fun while playing music and lessons shouldn't be an exception! During lessons I like to play duets and give small challenges, providing a interactive experience that encourages my students to enjoy the process of improving on their instrument. I expect my students to work hard while practicing and at lessons, though I understand every student learns differently and at a different pace. Ultimately it's the student's decision to become a better musician and I intend to do my best to lead the way. Read More

My teaching experience goes back to graduation from college when I began private lessons 29 years ago. Since then I have been consistently teaching students in my studio and in home while recently adding on online lessons. I encourage consistent practice with practice sheets and lesson plans tailored for each individual student based on their level of skills and goals. I try to always make the lessons fun and enjoyable so as to encourage my students to progress as much as possible while still maintaining a pace that is comfortable for the student. Read More

I like Faber and Faber piano adventures because they teach a lot like I do. I've been developing a power point and You Tube presentation to go along with the book for those students who need more visual stimulus. I like various curruiculum's with Trumpet and Brass players. I stay around the Trumpet players Bible using an Arban's book with some Clark exercises along with the students band book to help them not to form bad habits. Read More
