My experience teaching dates back to my late years of high school, as I began teaching private lessons 3 years ago to younger classmates, and students at the local junior high. I am now currently teaching multiple students throughout the Piedmont triad area as well as online Skype lessons in trumpet fundamentals, classical and jazz. In my lessons, I will encourage many types of fundamentals to round-out students playing abilities at the level which is most appropriate at the time. In the past 14 years, I have taught every level of music education from age 1 to 22, and I have experienced teaching in many different scenarios including preschool music time, elementary chorus and general music, indoor percussion, and concert, wind, and marching bands. My I love to see and hear my students make strides in a positive direction through practicing their music, and with my help, enjoying every moment of it! As a musician myself, I enjoy the cooperative element of music so I readily have an instrument around that I can play along with the student to help further innate musicianship for all skill levels of instrumentalists. For beginners I enjoy using Standards of Excellence from Kjos publishing or Sound Innovations from Alfred publishing and custom tailor exercises to fit the strengths and challenges of every student I teach.
