Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I started teaching lessons in college. I began teaching lessons 6 years ago, and have always taught in-home lessons. I believe that teaching in the home will help my students be more comfortable practicing at home. I prefer the one on one setting that teaching lessons gives you over the large ensemble setting. I believe it gives more opportunity to grow as a player. I have taught private trumpet lessons for about 4 years in the Dublin/Stephenville area. I feel the best way to approach an instrument like the trumpet is to have steady warmups, technical studies (Clarke, Small, Arbans) with elements like flexibility, tone studies, and calisthenics; and of course, literature. I am very experienced with trumpet literature spanning from beginner to advanced. I teach classical as well as jazz trumpet, and believe that they intertwine and it is helpful to practice a piece in different styles to better acclimate to the piece. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I like to start with Hal Leanard's Rubank Elementary Method Cornet/Trumpet. If a student has a grasp of the fundamentals, I work with the basic blues and scales to build a repetoire. For Adults, I like to work with jazz standards as well as H.L.
