As far back as I can remember I've always had a fascination with musical instruments and a deep desire to make music. I have attended a few private music schools in Los Angeles, CA in 1994 and in 1996 which allowed me to hone in my skills. I participate actively in praise and worship teams to the day since 1992. I like to learn who my student is before starting anything. I want to know what their interests are and what their view on music is. I then take that and bond with them and teach them in a certain way that matches their thoughts and personalities the best. I like to have fun and not be too strict as long as the student is doing their work, but if they are not staying on track the fun is replaced with more focus on concepts to be sure they are learning what is needed. In college, I continued to teach private music lessons until I got my degree in music education. Older children just beginning to enter the world of music will begin with the fundamentals of musicianship, sound, and breathing. From there I will progress to rhythm, pitch, and notation. When these skills are mastered I will get the students comfortable with their instruments and begin playing. Students that have a background in music with their instruments will be assessed to determine the level of teaching required.
