I am very passionate about many different types of music including both vocal music and Instrumental Music. I have a strong background being trained classically while also performing musical theatre and pop on different stages. I began teaching about 7 years ago as a part time way of making a little bit of extra money while in school and began teaching at middle and high schools in preparation for marching band and festival band competitions 5 years ago. I have toured with 3 different ensembles in a jazz medium, a classical medium, and as a brass quintet and have played in many side by side performances with young children up to high school, as well as performing with members of the New York Pops under direction of the world renowned conductor and composer Steven Reineke. I use generally use Faber and Faber for piano and the Yamaha method for guitar. However, each student learns differently therefore I like to meet and assess the needs before choosing a course to follow. For band students, I use the school's chosen method of instruction supplementing with theory, technique and performance pieces. For piano students, I get to know each student's taste in music and choose accordingly. For brass, woodwind, and percussion students who are in a school band or orchestra, I would use the school's chosen method book in additional to supplemental materials that I would provide, based on the student's interests and needs. For those who are not in band and are just starting, my preferred method for brass and woodwind players is Tradition of Excellence. For intermediate players, I like to use material from the Rubank Intermediate book in addition to more fun material on an individual basis. Read More

I have used and am open to a variety of band and piano methods. Essential Elements is ne of the best band instrument books, and I like the Fabre piano student book series. I Introduce solo and ensemble rep as quickly as possible also along with familiar tunes the student requests.older students and adults are canvasses as to where there musical interests lie.
