Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. My teaching experience sates back to running trumpet sectionals (in Junior High High School) for an All Star Jazz Band in my home town. When I was 16 I started teaching younger trumpet students as well. I descovered early on that I had a passion for directing and teaching. This stayed with me, and I always have incorporated education into my directing and leadership styles as a perormer. As with all students, I like tooassess the level of experience before setting a particular method. Once I teach proper warm up habits, I start by working on scales and range development. Once a basic knowledge of scales and warm up habits are established, I search the student to see what her/his interests are in music styles. For brass instrumental students, I generally use the Rubank Method books, focusing on care of the instrument and basic fundamentals. For piano students I use a variety of different method books and am not tied down to any one series. We will also work on scales and the Hannon series For vocal students, I use a series of vocalises, scales and other exercises to strengthen the voice. We will then work on repetroire focusing on what the student would sing at a recital performance. Read More
