I approach teaching in a very relaxed manner. If my students learn in a certain type of way I will differentiate my teaching style to accommodate them. I believe all students can learn and enjoy music, it is just a matter of finding the way that speaks to them the most. I suit my lessons to the individual needs and goals of the student. For beginners, I typically begin out of a method book, but I also use studies and etudes that I have developed on my own in the course of my teaching career. Throughout the learning process, I engage the student with real music to build listening skills, and teach concepts like tone, phrasing, and expression.
