I believe that students need to be taught to teach themselves. As a teacher, my role is to guide the student toward realizations with appropriate materials and information. However, the most beneficial learning occurs when the students feels they were an active participant in the discovery(ah-ha! moments). I am a flexible and passionate instructor with training in a multitude of styles.I've played trumpet for over ten years and am graduating from the College of Saint Rose Music Program in 2020. I love to teach and spread knowledge of my instrument. I've played lead trumpet in the College of Saint Rose Jazz Ensemble for 4 consecutive years as well as performed on various albums. I hold a PhD in Musicology (with a focus on the music of Japan) from Cornell University (2018), and regularly perform on both piano and trumpet here in NYC.
