In 2001, I graduated from Russian Academy Of Music in Moscow with a Masters Of the Arts degree in Trumpet Performance. I have been teaching since I was 16. I frequently ran sectionals in my high school as well as at multiple youth orchestras. I taught privately on and off throughout high school and college. I encourage regular practice and help build problem-solving skills because in the end, you are your own best teacher. I began teaching trombone and improvisation when I was a junior in High School. Currently I am adept in Singing, Music Theory, Trombone, Bass (-classical) and Electronic Music, but I also practice Flute, Piano, Guitar,Percussion (congas) and Tap Dancing. I have been told that I have a very unconventional teaching style, but I prefer to call it simplicity. For beginners of any age, I begin by discussing goals, milestones, and how we will achieve them. I do use method books, but only recommend those that will be useful in and out of lessons. I keep lessons fun and engaging, and always demonstrate before expecting the student to do the same. Fundamentals as building blocks are always needed, but I never keep a learning plan the same from student to student- goals (that can always be changed) are what I use to guide a student to be confident for any performance.
