The bulk of my teaching experience comes from being a High School, Middle School and Beginning Band Director for 9 years, as well as teaching Brass and Marching Band at the college level for 7 years. For all ages I like to begin with a skills test. Where they show me where they currently stand with their instrument. From there I refer to books by Trevor Wye to give students a strong fundamental basis in tone, technique, articulation, intonation/vibrato, and breathing/scales. From there the lessons would be tailored to where the student wants to go with their learning.
