Originally from Houston, TX, I began my music studies in 2010 and graduated from Sam Houston State University with my Bachelor's degree in Music Education. I went to earn a Master's degree in Music Performance from the University of Houston in 2017. I recently moved to New York City after being accepted into the Manhattan School of Music's Professional Studies program for classical trumpet. In October of 2018, I won the 2nd trumpet position with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic Orchestra and have performed as principal trumpet and soloist with the orchestra. Read More

For all beginning students, I like to start out with buzzing exercises and embouchure technique. This is the most fundamental part of brass playing. Having a strong foundation in creating a sound consistently and efficiently makes learning everything else about brass playing infinitely easier. For this, I use the Arban method book and the "Buzzing Book" by James Thompson. After his passing. I continued taking lessons from my uncle, my grandfather’s son as well as taking lessons with local Music stores. But my grandfathers teaching technique was a little different than other teachers. Before I was able to touch the trumpet, he sat me down and taught me Music Theory with a method called the Solfege, Also called Solfeggio, this method enabled me to understand what I was playing before touching the instrument.
