I began teaching clarinet lessons as a college student in 1990, and got my first job as a band director in 1993. I have not taught lessons in a home studio setting (only at school), but would be able to teach students in my home if desired, or would travel to students' homes or teach online if preferred. I have taught piano, drums, and all band instruments since 1993. Depending on whether it be voice or instrumental my methods will differ slightly. For beginning voice students (-12) I teach out of a folk songs book, and if they choose, challenging disney repertoire which adds an element of fun, but also is educational. for Intermediate students (12-15) I use the same folk songs book but apply more advanced techniques on proper singing technique, then depending on their level, I might do more advanced repertoire which fits them. Music has always been my greatest passion. I became a teacher so I could spread that passion to my students and watch them succeed at something that they love. I believe it is important for all students to learn at their own pace and that is why I prefer the individual attention I can provide as a private lesson teacher over a classroom teacher.
