My methods vary on the student and subject. Beginning students will typically focus more on technical pieces of music to improve on certain aspects of a few pieces to perform. More advanced students will still practice technical parts of their music, but less time will be spent on it during a lesson. Advanced level students will spend more time on repertoire and performance. The more advanced a student gets, the more I expect them to practice outside of lessons and apply their newly learned technical skills into their music on their own. Read More

Teaching music is one of my greatest joys. I love being able to help students of all ages unlock the mysteries of playing music. I have been playing the trumpet since age 10, and after graduating from the University of Oregon in 2001, I auditioned to play for Thomas Mapfumo and the Blacks Unlimited from Zimbabwe. For the next ten years, I toured North America, Europe and Africa. I seek to help a student to find their own inspiration in whatever genres and fields they find appropriate. I help students develop their own inner passion by bringing them to community events to provide musical examples outside of the curriculum that is necessary to improve skill level on all instruments. I have been a K-12 teacher at Lake County School District #7 in Oregon. I graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and a Master's Degree in Music Education at The University of Akron. I studied Clarinet as my main instrument, then piano, saxophone, trumpet, trombone and more.
