I have taught privately for the past five years. My students have ranged from eleven years old to college-age students in their late teens and early twenties. I love teaching for many reasons. I see a student as not just a musician, but as a complete person. Each student is very different, and I want to help them find their voice and their ability. My students have placed in honor bands, including the West Tennessee Solo and Ensemble Festival, and in this competition have won first prizes for both ensemble and solo competitions. Read More

For beginner students, I love the Faber primer or Alfred Beginner. Once the students have learned the basics, I play for them several pieces they would want to play for the next recital coming up so they can have an idea of what they like. For Intermediate players, I love the Dozen a Day collection, Hanon, and Alfred books. I have seen my students achieve success at all levels, from being a beginner to winning a college scholarship to the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music! I generally try to understand the fundamentals as to where the student is at currently. The basics are always where we drill the most. Playing the fundamentals must become like second nature as all the advance stages of playing and performing would always be difficult.
