For violin and viola lessons, I start my beginning students off with the violin/viola instrument hold as well as the bow hold. Once one has gotten the feel for holding the instrument as well as the bow, I teach the student the open strings of the instrument, followed by a one octave scale, with basic note reading exercises. I graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Instrumental Music Education, with a focus on Euphonium. My teaching style is student oriented meaning the more questions you bring me the better. I will allow students to learn at their own pace. For younger students I allow them to explor the instrument while showing them how to hold it and play. For older students I teach simple songs as well as scales and arpeggios. My teaching experience started in Music Collage,where teaching of school age students was part of curriculum .After graduation from Kiev Conservatory I taught individual violin and viola lessons at Kiev Music School #10 for Gifted Children. Shortly after immigrating to the United States I joined the teaching staff of the Notre Dame School of Music,where I served as a violin teacher for 5 years. When in 2005 the school was closed,I decided to continue teaching and created my private studio, where I have been teaching students of all ages and levels to play violin,viola and piano. Read More

Learning isn't a photocopy process which means a lot of the learning process is a responsibility of the student. I view my job as a teacher is to 1) make sure the student isn't getting overwhelmed, 2) hold the student accountable for their learning, and 3) guiding students through experiences that will facilitate their learning. My goals as a teacher are to 1) bring students to the highest level of technical ability they are able to attain, and 2) develop in the student the highest level of musicianship possible through theory and ear training.
