For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for violin students and piano adventures for piano students. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. Some students need structure, some need to be encouraged and some just need someone to help them polish their skills. I started teaching in 1991 after graduating with a degree in Music History. I also gained training at that time as a Suzuki Teacher books 1 to 4. As I grew as a teacher I learned that to reach students I had to mold to their way of learning, so I now don't use one particular method. I am passionate about all aspects of music, including music composition, theory, and history, and I include these important subjects in my instruction. In June, 2019, on behalf of the Cleveland Orchestra, I had the honor of accepting an invitation to perform as a featured guest artist as part of the Cleveland Orchestra's Gourmet Matinee Series at the Blossom Music Center.
