I like to use several methods in my lessons. I use a lesson book, Essential Elements for Strings for violin and viola students and Alfred books for piano students. In addition to these, I supplement with song books, concertos, etudes, scales, and songs the students want to learn to play. Part of my lesson times include teaching how to practice. However, I will always find a way to make the most out of an opportunity with a student. I'd rather spend time helping them learn how to express themselves with freedom and skill. When learning a specific task or skill, I use modeling in my teaching style. I will give examples the student examples they can imitate; however, I firmly believe that students should not just imitate but they should bring their own light to their music! Read More

I like to see where each student's natural talents and personal desires are headed and act as a servant leader to get them there. Students are encouraged to pursue music in the way that will keep them engaged reaping maximum benefits whether that be to build parts of their brain that would have otherwise lie dormant, or become the best solo performer they can be.
