Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I hold the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Violin Performance and a Master of Music degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Kansas. I taught violin and chamber music for eight years at the Sulaimany Fine Arts Institute in Kurdistan. Suzuki's pieces require much more time; Muller-Rusch allows students to progress through pieces faster to avoid impatience and burnout. For advanced players, my methods are very flexible. Advanced players all have varying strengths and weaknesses. I will hand-select scales from the Carl Flesch System. As for Etudes, I will select specific works that challenge a student's weaknesses. For high school-aged students interested in the classical method or those wishing to enter into solo/ensemble festival, I typically start with folk songs and the essential Italian Art Songs. For high school-aged students interested in musical theater and/or pop music, we try to find common ground on their musical interests and find pieces based on that. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
