Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

I'm a freelance musician with over six years of teaching experience. A singer/songwriter from New York, I graduated from Vassar College in 2020 with a degree in music, and moved to New Orleans to pursue a career in music education. In my time at Vassar, I was selected to join the school's Jazz Band as the sole bassist my Freshman year, I played bass in the orchestra where I spent time as the principal bassist, and led a small Jazz combo as well. I am not strict in one specific style. I try to be malleable in my approach as I get to know the habits and abilities of each individual. I've had students for whom I thought it best to be more rigid and repetitive drill based, while others seem to benefit from a more passive guru. It's a spectrum. Always, though, I try to control the pace of the session, to speak thoughtfully, honestly, and constructively whilst always maintaining the utmost respect for the struggles that a student is facing. The tension is often a result of a constricted physical, mental and/or emotional activity, causing students to feel frustrated and disappointed, preventing them from the desired results. I believe demonstrating how to practice efficiently is equally important. In my years of teaching, I have observed that students who do not make significant progress are the ones who do not insert intelligence and judgment into their practice routines. For examples, if a student is having left-hand coordination problems in a fast detaché passage, it is very likely that he or she may be lifting the fingers too high above the fingerboard and/or not keeping fingers down whenever possible. As a teacher, I always like to get to know my students so I can adapt my teaching to them. I believe that each student is different and progresses at his or her own pace. For each lesson, I like to set realistic goals and I will always encourage my students to communicate any questions they might have.
