For beginning students, I generally start with Suzuki Method, Sassmannshaus, and my own methods which I have created over the years. I emphasize the importance of ear training, becuase that is what allows us to know if we are playing correctly. For intermediate and advanced students, we work very heavily on warm ups, scales, etudes, and repertoire. I have been teaching privately for 11 years, and in public school for the last 7. I have played the violin for 20 years, and viola/cello/bass for the past 10. I have also played piano and sung for the last 12 years, and have performed in both solo and group settings on every instrument mentioned. I attended American University, where I received my bachelor's degree in music performance, and then continued to study at Northwestern University, where I received my master's degree. I was born in Montreal, Canada and started to learn violin at the age of four, in my grandmother's music school. My brothers and I attended weekly lessons at the school and music was part of our home life. I quickly developed a passion for music and became a more serious student in my pre-teen years.
