My lessons are very structured and fun. I incorporate games, visual aids, physical application, and live demonstrations to help appeal to the different styles. I do expect a high level of commitment from students while still being understanding that life doesnt always allow us to practice hours and hours a day. Since I do provide a lot of information within each lesson, I add a 5 minute break (if needed) to help clear the mind or just rest the eyes/arms since staring at music for a long period of time or holding up an instrument for a long period of time can be quite taxing. If the student is a beginner I will teach them proper technique, how to develop good habits at home, and I will also inform the parent to watch out for these aspects when they are practicing at home! We will be working on short excerpts from essential elements book, and then we will progress to Suzuki repertoire. If the student is intermediate I will work on Suzuki repertoire, and scales, also most of my private students are in an orchestra so we incorporate their school music in lesson as well. Read More

Every student has a different learning style and learns at their own pace. I myself am a tactile kinesthetic learner and tend to teach this way. For example, I enjoy using colored pencils to highlight articulation and dynamics. If a student is younger, I use stickers to help students keep track of where they are in the piece.
